Brunello di Montalcino: Poggio Antico – The Wine

We recently visited the beautiful Poggio Antico estate in Montalcino. The estate, made up of 200 hectares, is situated at an average altitude of 450 meters above sea level making it one of the highest altitude producers of Brunello. Poggio Antico mainly focuses on Sangiovese with the exception of some Cabernet Sauvignon.

James met with owner and director Paola Gloder Montefiori to taste
a range of her wines. In this video Paola and James discuss the 2007 Altero Brunello di Montalcino. The Altero is distinguished from the traditional Brunello in that it follows a different aging process. Watch Paula explain the different approach used in the production of this superb Brunello and how it translates into the wine.

Don't miss the Brunello report just released this past week.
