Bolgheri: Tenuta di Biserno (Part 2)

This video was shot during a recent visit to Tenuta di Biserno in Bibbona. Lodovico Antinori recently founded the estate after finding some striking similarities between the land of Tenuta di Biserno and that of Masseto. He met with James to taste some of the recent vintages of Tenuta di BIserno.

Lodovico is well aware that the Bolgheri/Bibbona area produces exceptional Merlot, however in the wines of Tenuta di Biserno, the presence of Merlot tends to diminish throughout the vintages. Instead, the wines tend to have a larger percentages of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, which according to Lodovico, seem to be thriving in the area.

In this video, Lodovico and James discuss the presence of these varietals in the new wines, a novel approach in an area where the omnipresence of Merlot seemed irrefutable.

The wines tasted included 2008 Biserno2009 Biserno2008 Il Pino2009 Il Pino and 2008 Lodovico.
