This is another video I shot during our recent visit to Tenuta dell’Ornellaia, the famous wine estate on the Tuscany coast in the region of Bolgheri. In this video, Leonardo Raspini managing director and agronomist at Ornellaia, met with James to taste the 2009 vintage as well as the 2010. A few things came up during this tasting: As James noted, there is the generalized notion that all vintages in Tuscany tend to be the same, to which Leonardo rightly replies that those who think so should drink more Tuscan vintages. However, if you don’t have a vertical tasting of Tuscan wines at hand, I recommend you watch this video. In it, James and Leonardo discuss the particularities that characterize the 2009 and 2010 vintages.
Below are the wines included in the tasting. Click to see their scores and notes.
2009 La Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia
2010 La Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia
2009 Tenuta dell’Ornellaia Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia
