Bolgheri: Le Macchiole

Bolgheri is a small region located in the southern extension of the coast of Tuscany in the province of Livorno. It is an internationally known wine region and one of the most notable ones in Tuscany.  The type of climate, the proximity to the sea and the quality of the soil have allowed for Bordeaux grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot to thrive in the area. This brings me to the subject of this video; Le Macchiole. The vineyard was founded in 1975 by Eugenio Campolmi, it focuses on single variety production that include Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. However, Le Macchiole is renowned for its Messorio which is without a doubt one of Italy's most charismatic Merlots. In this video James along with Le Macchiole's leading winemaker Cinzia Merli taste the 2006 and 2007 vintages of both the pure Cabernet Franc Paleo and the Messorio. Stay tuned for new videos and a tasting report on Bolgheri will be released as the week moves on. Enjoy!

Hello James! I remember that you give it 100 pts to Le Macchiole Messorio 2004 a few years ago. That wine was great ! Did you taste it again to compare with the '06 & '07 ?
