The vineyards of San Polino are located just outside the town of Montalcino, in the lower area. It is a small family-run farm that takes pride in its size because it allows for a more detailed and meticulous care of the vineyards. Respecting tradition and the environment is very important to owner Luigi Fabbro, who uses permaculture and biodynamic-organic farming to grow his vines and exclusively farms the Sangioevese vine varietal.
James recently visited the San Polino farm to discuss the 2006 and 2007 vintages. While there he also had the chance to hear more about the technical aspects of the organic process used in San Polino. As well as some interesting insights from owner Luigi Fabbro on the environmental philosophy behind these great wines.
