Wines to watch: Chilean cabernet sauvignon

5 Tasting Notes

Carmenere might be Chile’s signature grape, but cabernet sauvignon is the most planted and most popular varietal. In our recent report based on the JamesSuckling.com team’s trip to Chile earlier in the year, the top three wines, all scoring 100 points, were either partly or wholly based on this varietal, which is durable and well suited to Chile’s high altitude and varying terroirs, but also produces juicy, silky wines that can age for decades.

Take a look below at some of our favorite cabernet wines from Chile that aren’t yet released – mark these down on your to-buy list once they do come onto the market!

We are lucky enough to taste thousands of wines each year before they hit the market. Watch this space for more ‘wines to watch’.
