In our recent tasting trip to Argentina, we tasted more than 1,500 wines, and we declared this year’s tasting the best ever for Argentina (read the full report here). The country is showing more finesse, and allowing the various terroirs to shine through in so many excellent wines now. And it was, of course, the malbecs that shone brightest.
Of the five 100-point wines we rated, two were pure malbec and one was a 62 percent malbec blend. But you don’t need to spend the higher prices these premium wines now command to be able to sample Argentina’s malbec greatness.
We’ve picked out five wines here not yet on the market that we think all malbec lovers should keep their eyes on. They will be released later this year. Prices of previous vintages of these wines range between $30 and $80. We suggest you seriously consider putting these on your “to buy” list!
We have been lucky enough to be able to taste several thousand wines already this year, and this early access gives us the chance to rate and review these wines well in advance of their market release. We will be posting more ‘upcoming wines’ each week – so watch this space!
